The most important questions for you to ask yourself throughout the college admissions process, from beginning to end, are the "why" questions.

When developing the college preferences in the second step of the process, you will be able to explain, based on your personal inventory, why the preferences developed make sense for you.

Once the preliminary group of colleges has been developed, you will be able to explain, based on your college preferences, why those colleges were included in the group. When conducting college research, completing campus visits, and making up the final list of 4 to 8 colleges, you will be prepared to explain why specific colleges were included or excluded, and why each college on the final list represents a good "fit" or "match" for you.

This is a vitally important part of your successful college search and will better prepare you to convey your genuine interest in the colleges to which you apply.
